Gratitude is the Attitude

Happy December, readers! In the spirit of the holidays and season of giving I wanted to get more personal and share some of the blessings the man upstairs has had the pleasure of gracing me with.

Gratitude is the attitude. While we enjoy the holiday parties, stress over Christmas shopping, we can sometimes get caught up with the materialistic aspect of the month. I wanted to give a shoutout to some of the things that contribute to a huge part of my happiness, positivity, and love of life. Gratitude allows us to celebrate the present and acknowledge the good things in our life.

Family.

If there’s one thing I know in life, I know the bond that my family has is something truly special. I’m thankful for my parents for the endless support and who continue to cheer me on. I’m so thankful for my brothers. These are the people who not once have let me down, the people who keep it real and straight with me, and most importantly the people who have shown me what loyalty really means. Last but not least, I need to show some love to all my cousins, my honorary sister, Kimmie, (and of course my nieces and nephews). Guiding me through life, I’m forever grateful for our bond and it’s never a dull moment with my crazy family!

T.G.

To my homie, lover, and friend. Our relationship has not been the easiest, but every moment spent has made everything worthwhile. The continued support and love does not go unnoticed. I’m thankful for a relationship that continues to grow and flourish. Exploring life and the adventures just this last year has brought some of my favorite days. Truly blessed <3

My Day Ones.

We like to call our friendship “low maintenance”. Wherever life takes us I know our bond is unbreakable. Friends that become family is the best way I can explain it. From little kids, to annoying teens, and now stepping into the shoes of successful and beautiful women. I’m blessed to have a SOLID crew by my side.

APHI.

To the ladies who came in another chapter of my life. College would not be the same without them. I’m thankful for Alpha Phi for bringing me some of my forever friends. To some boss babes who are making a mark in the world, I’m here for it and thankful for my sisters. In a chapter with too many girls to count, I appreciate these girls who have truly become my sisters for life. AOE.

Career.

It’s so common to hear people unhappy at their jobs, unmotivated, and around a toxic work environment. I’m grateful for my job that has taught and continues to teach me so much, the opportunity to be creative and innovative, and most importantly the fun work culture and hard working team I get to work with everyday.

Travel.

Not many have the luxury to travel and explore the world. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to take days off and visit different cultures and beautiful sights. Experiencing new atmospheres have been so enriching and fulfilling.

Art and Music.

In those times where I need to focus on “me” and take some time away from people I’m thankful for art and music. Whether it’s a quick DIY project or getting lost in music I’ve realized a creative outlet is all I need to let go. I’m grateful I found something that I’m passionate about and I can call an escape when needed.

Yoga.

Now for the times when I’m stressed, upset, or uneasy. This has become a HUGE part of my life. Yoga isn’t just a way for me to exercise or to burn some calories (and yes it’s a workout!), it's become a lifestyle. Everyday I learn about patience, living in the present, and how to let things go. Each practice has led me to a better understanding of myself, a fresh attitude, and most importantly brings me a little peace and harmony at the end of the session.

Technology.

I’m kind of a tech geek. I know I mentioned I wanted to step back from the materialistic things, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t grateful for technology. What I appreciate most about modern day tech is how easy it is to connect with each other and having a platform to share some of the best moments in life as well as have a voice. Without technology, I wouldn’t be able to connect with my parents in the Philippines, keep up with friends who are no longer in the area, and of course, have this place to express some of my thoughts and ideas.

The list can go on for the things in my life I am grateful for. 2019 has been one hell of a ride. From one thankful person to another, cheers to another year full of blessings!
